Discipline, money management and the long run

• Decide your rules before the day starts, then follow them without exception.
• A rule you break once is not a rule — it is a mood.
• Skipping a day with no qualifying opportunity is a decision, not a wasted day.
• Never add extra selections to “make the day interesting”.

• Keep a separate, fixed amount set aside for this. That amount is your bankroll.
• Stake a small, consistent share of it — commonly 1% to 2% per selection.
• Never let one selection be able to hurt the bankroll meaningfully.
• Increase stakes only because the bankroll grew, never because you feel due a win.
• Cap the number of selections per day so a bad day stays a small day.

Doubling after a loss feels like recovery and is the fastest known way to lose a bankroll. Losing runs are normal and arrive without warning. The correct response to a loss is the same stake plan you had before it.

At odds around 2.00, runs of five or six losses in a row are ordinary, not evidence that something broke. Equally, a good week proves very little. Small samples are noise; treat any short-term number with suspicion, whichever direction it points.

• Judge a method over hundreds of settled selections, not over a weekend.
• Measure return against your starting bankroll, consistently, every time.
• Count the losers. A record that hides them is worthless.
• Consistency of process matters more than the size of any single result.

Write down the price you took, the time you took it, the stake and the outcome — before you know the result. A record built afterwards flatters you. Everything published on this site is recorded that way, including the losing selections.
